Improving your swing path is crucial for hitting the ball straight in golf. The direction your ball travels is determined by two factors: club path and face angle. Club path is the direction the club is traveling through the impact zone, while face angle is how open or closed the club face is at impact. If your club path is not moving in the right direction, you will have to compensate in other areas of your swing to make up for it. However, with the right drills and practice, you can improve your swing path and hit the ball more consistently. In today’s edition of Play Smart, Bryson DeChambeau shares a great drill for improving your swing path.

Bryson DeChambeau’s path drill is a simple yet effective way to work on your swing path. He sets up with a ball on the ground and places tees on either side of his clubhead at address, forming a gate. During his normal swing, if his club path is too far to the outside, he’ll hit the outside tee with the toe of the clubhead. If it’s too far inside, he’ll hit the inside tee with the clubhead. This drill helps to ensure that the clubhead travels through the tees consistently, leading to solid strikes with your irons.

Practicing this golf tee drill is not only beneficial for improving your swing path but also for getting comfortable with the position of the clubface at impact. DeChambeau emphasizes the importance of hitting the ball square at impact, and this drill helps golfers achieve that goal. By spending time practicing this drill, you can develop better consistency in your ball striking and improve your overall swing mechanics. It’s a simple yet effective warm-up or practice routine that can make a big difference in your game.

DeChambeau’s passion for growing the game and inspiring the next generation of golfers is evident in his dedication to sharing tips and drills like this one. As a professional golfer, he understands the importance of mastering the fundamentals of the game, including proper swing mechanics. By following his advice and incorporating this drill into your practice routine, you can make significant improvements in your swing path and ball striking ability. Consistency is key in golf, and this drill can help you achieve that level of consistency in your game.

Overall, improving your swing path is essential for hitting the ball straight and making solid strikes with your irons. By focusing on drills like the golf tee drill shared by Bryson DeChambeau, you can develop better control over your club path and improve the overall quality of your swing. Practicing consistently and incorporating drills like this one into your routine can lead to noticeable improvements in your game. So, take the time to work on your swing path and see the positive impact it can have on your golf performance.
