Dom Furore, a seasoned photographer at Golf Digest, has captured numerous iconic moments during his 35-year career behind the lens. His work has garnered him the prestigious PGA of America’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award in Photojournalism. While Furore displays humility by attributing his success to luck, his achievements are a result of his patience, persistence, talent, and ingenuity. One of his notable photographs includes Arnold Palmer at the Masters in 2002, capturing Palmer in a bright yellow shirt against a backdrop of yellow flowers, showcasing Furore’s eye for detail and composition.

In another instance at the Masters in 2017, Furore executed a breathtaking shot of patrons with a long exposure, requiring him to improvise as tripods were not allowed on the course. He devised a solution using a brace typically used by hunters to stabilize his monopod, enabling him to achieve the desired stillness for the shot. This innovative approach and dedication to his craft have set Furore apart as a pioneering photographer in the world of sports journalism.

With his forthcoming induction into the Golf Writers Association of America’s Annual Award Dinner, Furore reflects on his illustrious career with a sense of gratitude and disbelief. His ability to capture the essence of golf legends like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Phil Mickelson has immortalized their presence on the course through his lens. A striking photograph of a young Tiger and his father, Earl, exemplifies Furore’s knack for capturing intimate moments that transcend the game of golf.

Furore’s passion for photography has taken him to remote locations such as the Himalayan Golf Course in Nepal, where he ventured to capture the majestic backdrop of the Himalayas. His keen eye for composition and dedication to his craft are evident in each photograph, whether he is enduring harsh weather conditions at the Isle of Arran in Scotland or capturing the essence of a moment at the U.S. Open. Furore’s ability to tell a story through his photography sets him apart as a master of his art.

Throughout his career, Furore has produced a vast collection of memorable images that have graced the pages of Golf Digest and captivated audiences worldwide. From Tiger Woods’s triumphant moments at major championships to Jack Nicklaus’s final competitive round at St. Andrews, Furore’s portfolio is a testament to his skill and passion for the game of golf. Each photograph tells a unique story, capturing the emotion, drama, and beauty of the sport in a way that resonates with viewers.

As Furore prepares to receive his latest accolade, he remains humble and appreciative of the opportunities that his career has afforded him. His work stands as a testament to his dedication to his craft and his ability to capture the essence of golf in its purest form. With each click of the shutter, Furore immortalizes moments that define the sport and inspire future generations of golf enthusiasts. His legacy as a master photographer at Golf Digest will continue to shine brightly, leaving an indelible mark on the world of golf photography.
