The 2024 Paris Olympics will feature the world’s top golfers competing for a chance to win a gold medal. This will mark the third time golf has been included in the Olympic program since its return in 2016. The men’s golf tournament is set to take place roughly one week after the Opening Ceremony, with the women’s tournament following the next week. Both competitions will be held at Le Golf National, a renowned course in Guyancourt near Versailles that hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018.

The Open Championship in July will not be the final major tournament for these golfers, as they will have the opportunity to compete in the Paris Games shortly after. Each competition will be a four-day event following stroke-play rules, with gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to the top three finishers in each. Team USA will be looking to defend their titles from the last Olympics, with Xander Schauffele and Nelly Korda taking home the gold in 2020.

Qualifying for the Paris Games is based on world rankings, with the top 15 players as of specific dates for men and women earning automatic spots, and a limit of four players per country. The remaining competitors will be selected through at-large bids, with a two-player limit per country. The men’s tournament will run from Thursday to Sunday in the first week of August, while the women’s competition will start on the following Wednesday and end on Saturday.

The previous medalists from the 2020 Olympics included Xander Schauffele, Rory Sabattini, and C.T. Pan for the men, and Nelly Korda, Mone Inami, and Lydia Ko for the women. In 2016, the gold medalists were Justin Rose and Inbee Park for the men and women, respectively, with silver and bronze medals awarded to players from Sweden, the USA, New Zealand, and China.

Overall, the Paris Games in 2024 will be an exciting opportunity for golfers to compete on an international stage and represent their countries. With top players from around the world vying for medals, the competition is sure to be intense and thrilling for both participants and spectators alike. Stay tuned for updates on the Olympic golf tournaments and the performances of Team USA as they aim to defend their titles in Paris.
