Lexi Thompson recently concluded her full-time LPGA Tour career with a T49th finish at the CME Group Tour Championship, marking the end of her 14th season as a professional golfer. Despite her decision to no longer regularly compete after 2025, Thompson expressed her hope that her impact on the game would extend beyond the golf course. The 11-time LPGA Tour winner finished her final round alongside her brother and stand-in caddie, Nick, and was met with applause and appreciation from fans, friends, and family.

Reflecting on her career, Thompson expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans, sponsors, and loved ones. With 15 professional wins to her name, Thompson’s legacy not only includes her success on the course but also her dedication to giving back to the game. She emphasized the importance of inspiring others to pursue their dreams and not letting obstacles deter them from achieving success, whether in golf or any other aspect of life. Thompson’s authenticity and willingness to connect with fans have been defining aspects of her career.

Thompson’s journey in professional golf has been marked by challenges, including taking time off in 2018 due to mental and emotional exhaustion. As she transitions away from full-time competition, Thompson acknowledged the importance of allowing herself to feel and express her emotions authentically. While she may participate in select events in 2025, Thompson is looking forward to taking time for herself and approaching each day with intention and mindfulness.

Despite stepping back from full-time golf, Thompson remains committed to the sport and plans to participate in the Grant Thornton Invitational in December alongside Rickie Fowler. Additionally, she is likely to include the Chevron Championship, where she secured her first Major win, in her upcoming schedule. Thompson’s impact on the game goes beyond her accolades and achievements, as she strives to inspire others to pursue their passions and overcome obstacles with resilience and determination.

As Thompson enters this new chapter in her career, her dedication to authenticity, resilience, and giving back to the game serves as a lasting legacy that transcends the boundaries of professional golf. Her willingness to share her struggles and vulnerabilities resonates with athletes and fans alike, emphasizing the importance of mental health and emotional well-being in pursuit of excellence. Thompson’s impact on the sport extends far beyond her time on the course, leaving a lasting impression on those who have been touched by her remarkable journey.
