Titleist has recently introduced the new GT fairway woods, featuring a critical new feature that promises to unlock new levels of overall performance. These clubs are designed to provide more distance, improved ball flight, and enhanced consistency for golfers who want high stability and forgiveness. The GT2 fairway woods are suited for players looking for more distance, while the GT3 fairway woods offer left-right adjustability, lower spin rates, and a lower ball flight.
Unlike other manufacturers that have integrated carbon fiber crowns into their fairway woods, Titleist has opted to stick with stainless steel. However, with the GT fairway woods, they have added a seamless thermoform crown piece made with their proprietary matrix polymer, significantly reducing the weight and lowering the center of gravity for better overall performance.
Both the GT2 and GT3 models feature a forged 465 stainless steel face in an L shape, allowing for more efficient flex on low-struck shots. The clubs also come equipped with Titleist’s 16-position SureFit hosel mechanism, enabling players and fitters to adjust the lie angle, loft, or both for a customized fit and optimal distance gapping.
The GT2 fairway woods have a lower profile, while the GT3 model boasts a taller, deeper face preferred by lower-handicap players. Designers aimed to make the GT2 launch higher and spin less than previous models by repositioning weight forward in the head, resulting in higher ball speeds and lower spin rates for increased carry distance.
The GT3 features a five-position moveable weight in the front of the sole, allowing for a draw or fade bias. Both models come in a range of loft options, with the GT2 available in 13.5, 15, 16.5, 18, and 21 degrees, and the GT3 in 15, 16.5, and 18 degrees.
Priced at $399 each, the Titleist GT2 and GT3 fairway woods come with Project X Denali Red, Project X HZRDUS Black 5th Gen, or Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Blue graphite shafts and Titleist Universal 360 grips. These clubs are available for fitting and pre-sale now and will hit stores starting August 23.
