England Golf has appointed Martha Brass as its new Chair, making her the first female Chair of the national governing body. Brass previously served on the England Golf Board as Senior Independent Director from 2017-2021. She replaces Ian Pattinson, who has taken up the role of Captain of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. With her background as Chief Operating Officer of BBC Studios Productions and experience as a non-executive director on the European Tour, Brass brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to England Golf.

In her new role, Brass aims to make the game of golf more accessible and welcoming for people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. She is passionate about initiatives such as the Respect in Golf movement and programs like iGolf and iPlay that engage a diverse range of golfers. Brass looks forward to collaborating with the board, executive leadership team, and county stakeholders to further develop the game of golf in England. Her membership at Guildford Golf Club in Surrey and Eagles Mere Country Club in Pennsylvania reflects her deep involvement in the golf community.

As Chair of England Golf, Brass will lead efforts to promote grassroots participation, support talent development, and enhance diversity within the sport. With her strong background in media and production, Brass is well-equipped to drive innovative marketing and communication strategies to engage a wider audience of golf enthusiasts. Her experience on the European Tour and PGA European Tour Productions will bring fresh perspectives to England Golf’s initiatives and help elevate the sport’s profile in the country.

Under Brass’s leadership, England Golf will continue to prioritize inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation in its operations and programs. With a focus on growing the game at all levels, from amateur to professional, Brass will work closely with key stakeholders to implement strategic plans for the future of golf in England. By leveraging her expertise in business management and leadership, Brass aims to enhance the overall experience for golfers and strengthen England Golf’s position as a leading authority in the sport.

Brass’s appointment as Chair reinforces England Golf’s commitment to fostering diversity and equality within the organization and the wider golfing community. As a trailblazer for women in leadership roles, Brass brings a fresh perspective and a strong voice to the table. Her experience in overseeing large-scale productions and managing complex organizations will be invaluable in driving England Golf’s strategic vision and delivering tangible results for the sport. With Brass at the helm, England Golf is poised to enter a new era of growth and development, guided by a forward-thinking and dynamic leader.

In conclusion, Martha Brass’s appointment as Chair of England Golf marks a significant milestone in the organization’s history. With her proven track record of leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to inclusivity, Brass is well-positioned to lead England Golf into a successful future. Her appointment signals a new chapter of collaboration, innovation, and growth for the sport of golf in England. As the first female Chair of England Golf, Brass’s leadership will inspire a new generation of golfers and pave the way for a more diverse and inclusive golfing community. With Brass at the helm, England Golf is set to achieve new heights of success and impact in the years to come.
