The 2024 PGA Tour season is coming to a close with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will compete for the FedEx Cup Championship and a $25 million prize. East Lake Golf Club is known for its fast and undulating Bermudagrass greens, presenting a challenge for players of varying skill levels.

Currently, Scottie Scheffler leads the leaderboard at -10, followed by Xander Schauffele at -8 and Hideki Matsuyama at -7. Past winners at East Lake Golf Club include Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, and Dustin Johnson. The introduction of a strokes-based bonus in 2019 has added a new element to the tournament, giving players with the most FedEx Cup points a stroke advantage.

To help bettors navigate the handicapped scoring system, using data from Betsperts Golf’s Rabbit Hole data engine can provide insights into player performance. Key stats to consider for East Lake include Strokes Gained: Approach, Good Drive Percentage, and Strokes Gained: Putting on Bermudagrass greens. Players like Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy have excelled in these areas over their last 24 rounds.

Course history is also essential at East Lake, with players like Schauffele, McIlroy, and Justin Thomas performing well in previous events. The design of the course by Donald Ross requires strategic ball placement and the ability to navigate undulating greens. A custom model using a combination of key statistical categories can help predict which players are likely to succeed at the Tour Championship.

Among the top picks for the tournament are Rory McIlroy, who has a strong track record at East Lake and in FedEx Cup events. Despite starting at -4, McIlroy has shown in the past that he can overcome deficits and emerge victorious. With his experience and skill set, McIlroy is a solid bet to perform well at the Tour Championship.

In a field with tough competition, McIlroy stands out as a player with the ability to deliver results. His success in previous FedEx Cup events and familiarity with the course make him a contender for the title. Betting on McIlroy at reasonable odds could prove to be a valuable choice in a challenging and competitive tournament.
