Improving your putting performance can significantly lower your scores on the golf course. Lag putting, in particular, is an area where many golfers struggle, leading to unnecessary strokes around the green. By focusing on distance control and green-reading on long putts, you can set yourself up for shorter and more makable comebackers, ultimately resulting in lower scores over time. Establishing a routine for reading each putt is essential, and GOLF Top 100 Teacher Trillium Rose offers a three-step method to help you approach your lag putts with confidence.

According to Rose, the first step is to stand behind the ball and visualize the line to the cup. By determining whether the ball would roll to the right, left, or straight if aimed at the cup, you can get a sense of the break before making your putt. If needed, locate the high and low points of the green to assist in determining the direction of the roll. The next step is to imagine hitting a straight putt and focus on how the ball will move in the last few feet leading up to the hole. This visualization helps you anticipate the break and adjust your aim accordingly. Finally, choose a start line that incorporates the anticipated break and focus on executing your putt with confidence.

Practicing Rose’s lag putting method during your next practice session or round can lead to significant improvements in your putting performance. By reducing your three-putt percentage and making more putts from distance, you can save valuable strokes on the golf course and ultimately lower your scores over time. Remember to establish a routine for reading each putt, visualize the line to the cup, and focus on distance control and green-reading to improve your lag putting stats.

By following the advice of top teachers like Trillium Rose, golfers of all levels can elevate their putting game and see significant improvements in their scores.

Golfers looking to lower their scores and improve their putting performance should prioritize lag putting as a key area of focus. By mastering the art of lag putting and implementing a routine for reading each putt, players can save valuable strokes around the green and ultimately lower their scores over time. Trillium Rose’s three-step method offers a practical approach to lag putting, emphasizing distance control and green-reading to help golfers set themselves up for success on the greens. By following these simple steps and practicing regularly, golfers can enhance their lag putting skills and see improvements in their overall performance on the course.
