The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris were a disappointing one for Team USA, as they were shut out of the podium in the women’s individual stroke play competition. Despite having the top two players in the world, as well as rising star Rose Zhang, on the three-player U.S. squad, none of them were able to clinch a medal. Zhang, who began the day two shots back of the lead, struggled in the final round, carding a 74 that included a double-bogey on the ninth hole. She finished as the top American in a T-8 position.

Reflecting on her Olympic debut, Zhang expressed pride in her resilience and fighting spirit, promising to continue to work hard and improve in the future. Meanwhile, Nelly Korda, the 2021 gold medalist, had a disappointing final round, making two bogeys and a double over the last five holes to finish tied for 22nd. Korda acknowledged that she has been struggling with compounding mistakes and emphasized the need to control her errors moving forward.

Another top American player, Lilia Vu, started the week strong but struggled as the tournament progressed, finishing tied for 36th after a final round 74. Despite these disappointing results, the American players remained positive about their performances and eager to continue working on their games. The competition was fierce, with players from around the world vying for a spot on the podium and showcasing their skills on the international stage.

The U.S. players faced tough competition from players like Lydia Ko and Morgane Meatraux, who were part of the final group alongside Zhang in the last round. Despite falling short of their goals, the American players expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete in the Olympics and represent their country on a global stage. The experience of playing in such a prestigious event will undoubtedly serve as valuable learning lessons for the young players and inspire them to continue pursuing their dreams in the sport of golf.

As the final round unfolded, it became clear that the American players would not be able to secure a medal. However, they remained focused and determined to finish the tournament strong, showcasing their talent and determination on the challenging course. While the results may not have been what they had hoped for, the American players demonstrated their perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity, setting the stage for future success on the international stage. Despite the disappointment of missing out on a podium finish, the U.S. golf team can take pride in their efforts and use this experience as motivation for further growth and development in their careers.
