If you struggle with inconsistent contact and delivering a square clubface at impact, then you understand the frustration that comes with not being able to produce satisfactory results with each swing. However, before you make any drastic changes to your swing, it might be worth trying a simple drill from Tom McKibbin of LIV Golf’s Legion XIII. This drill is designed to help you keep your clubface square through impact, leading to more solid and consistent strikes every time you step onto the course.

To try out McKibbin’s arc drill, you will need a curved alignment tool placed on your toe line with your ball position in line with the midpoint of the alignment tool. While the exact tool McKibbin uses might not be readily available for purchase, you can easily create a similar arc with golf tees. By taking a few practice swings using this setup, focusing on your follow-through, you can visualize your clubface staying square as it follows the curved path of the alignment tool from impact through the finish. This visualization can help you avoid flipping your wrists through impact, which is a common issue for many golfers, leading to more consistent ball striking.

By using McKibbin’s drill, you can work on straightening out your ball flight and maintaining a square clubface through impact, ultimately resulting in more greens hit in regulation. The drill not only helps prevent wrist flipping but also corrects various issues that can arise from an inconsistent clubface through impact, such as a slice or a two-way miss. By incorporating this drill into your practice routine, you can improve your overall consistency and performance on the course, leading to better scores and a more enjoyable golfing experience.

In addition to the arc drill, using alignment aids like the Alignment Ball can also help improve your putting game. This tool features close to 20 feet of retractable cable, making it easy to work on your start line quickly and efficiently on the putting green. The built-in spokes of the Alignment Ball make setup a breeze, allowing you to focus on improving your putting stroke and alignment. By incorporating tools like the Alignment Ball into your practice routine, you can enhance your putting skills and lower your scores on the course.

Consistency is key in golf, and drills like the arc drill from Tom McKibbin can help you achieve that level of consistency in your ball striking. By focusing on keeping your clubface square through impact and visualizing a straight follow-through, you can improve your overall performance on the course. Additionally, using alignment aids like the Alignment Ball can help you work on your putting alignment, leading to more made putts and lower scores. Incorporating these drills and tools into your practice routine can make a significant difference in your game and help you reach your full potential as a golfer.
