Dustin Johnson secured a victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship seven years ago by defeating Jordan Spieth in a playoff. Let’s take a closer look at the gear Johnson used during this tournament. His driver was the TaylorMade M1 2017 with a 10.5-degree loft adjusted to 11 degrees. The shaft used was the Fujikura Speeder Evolution 2.0 Tour Spec 661 X, with specifications of 45.75 inches in length and tipped 1 inch. Johnson also used a TaylorMade M1 2017 3-wood with a 17-degree loft and a Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5 shaft, along with a TaylorMade M1 2016 5-wood with a 19-degree loft and a Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5 shaft.

For his irons, Johnson used the TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB ’14 model from 3 to PW. The shafts used were a Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5 (105 grams) for the long irons (3-5) and True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 for the short irons (6-PW). Johnson’s wedges were from the TaylorMade Milled Grind series, with a 52-degree loft and a 60-degree loft, both equipped with KBS Tour Wedge 130X Black Nickel shafts. His putter of choice was the TaylorMade TP Collection Juno, with specifications of 35.75 inches in length, 2.5 degrees of loft, and a lie angle of 69 degrees. Johnson also used the TaylorMade TP5x golf balls during this championship.

The equipment choices made by Johnson during the FedEx St. Jude Championship were crucial in securing his victory. Each club in his bag was carefully selected to suit his playing style and preferences, highlighting the importance of having the right gear for success on the course. Johnson’s partnership with TaylorMade and other equipment brands showcases the trust he has in their products to perform at the highest level under pressure.

The TaylorMade M1 series drivers and fairway woods provided Johnson with the distance and accuracy needed to navigate the challenging course at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The Project X and Fujikura shafts in his woods and irons added stability and consistency to his shots, allowing him to hit precise targets and set up scoring opportunities. The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB irons offered Johnson the control and feel required for approaching the greens with precision, while the TaylorMade Milled Grind wedges helped him execute delicate shots around the green with spin and control.

In addition to his clubs, Johnson’s choice of the TaylorMade TP Collection Juno putter contributed to his success on the greens. The putter’s length, loft, and lie angle were customized to Johnson’s preferences, ensuring that he could confidently roll the ball towards the hole with consistency. The TaylorMade TP5x golf balls provided Johnson with a blend of distance, spin, and control, allowing him to shape shots and hold greens effectively throughout the tournament. Overall, Johnson’s equipment setup was a key factor in his victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, showcasing the importance of having the right tools for success in professional golf.
