Kevin Na Believes LIV Winners Deserve Exemptions into All Four Majors

Kevin Na, the captain of IronHeads in the LIV Golf League, expressed his confidence that LIV golfers will have a pathway to participate in all four Major championships in the near future. Currently, the LIV Golf League does not offer direct exemptions to its players for the Major events. Players like Joaquin Niemann, who do not have long-running exemptions, are dependent on annual invites, which are not guaranteed. Talks about a possible merger between the PGA Tour, LIV Golf League, and DP World Tour are ongoing, and the uncertainty over the future of Majors, especially for players in the 54-hole competition, prevails.

Heading into the 2025 season, Kevin Na remains hopeful about the inclusion of top LIV players in the Major championships, but the concrete information about when this might happen is still unknown. He believes that it is only a matter of time before the top LIV players are featured in all four Majors once again. Na pointed out that there are many talented players in the LIV Golf League who deserve a chance to compete in the Majors and that eventually, a criteria will be established to provide a direct pathway for LIV players to the Majors.

Na emphasized the importance of inviting the best players to the Majors to ensure the highest level of competition. He mentioned Joaquin Niemann’s success in earning invites to the Majors in the previous year as a sign of things to come. Na suggested implementing a meritocratic system for LIV golfers based on winners of LIV Golf tournaments and top-ranking players. According to Na, winners of LIV Golf events should be exempt into all four Majors, along with the top-16 players based on their season performance.

In Na’s proposed system, winning a LIV Golf tournament would secure a player’s spot in all four Majors, given the limited number of tournaments in the league. He argued that top-16 players should also receive exemptions to ensure a competitive field in the Majors. Na drew parallels to the PGA Tour’s model of inviting winners of events to the Masters and PGA Championship and suggested that LIV Golf adopt a similar approach. He stressed the difficulty of winning a tournament in the competitive LIV Golf field and the significance of rewarding top performers with Major exemptions.

The uncertainty surrounding the inclusion of LIV golfers in the Major championships has led to speculation and discussions among players, fans, and stakeholders. While there is no definitive answer yet, Na’s perspective on establishing a merit-based system for LIV players highlights the importance of providing equal opportunities for all talented golfers. As the talks about a potential merger between golf tours continue, the future of Major championships for LIV players remains a topic of interest and anticipation in the golfing world.
