To effectively navigate side-hill lies on the golf course, it is important to follow the technique outlined by Top 100 Teacher Brady Riggs. When faced with a situation where the ball is below your feet, it may seem challenging, but with a few adjustments to your setup and swing, you can make it easier to get the ball on the green. Riggs suggests taking one more club than you would typically use, aiming left of your target, positioning the ball up in your stance, and flexing your knees to reach the ball without hunching over.

Additionally, it is essential to commit to the fact that the ball will likely want to fade due to the slope. By aiming left and allowing the ball to fade, you can adjust your approach to achieve a successful shot. When swinging, the key is to avoid getting stuck and striking the ground behind the ball. Instead, focus on an outside-in attack and envision your club swinging back up the hill on the follow-through. By keeping your lower body quiet and maintaining a smooth swing, you can effectively navigate side-hill lies with ease.

Brady Riggs, a GOLF Top 100 Teacher, offers valuable insights and expertise on how to navigate side-hill lies on the golf course. With experience teaching at Hansen Dam GC in Pacoima, Calif., and PGA WEST Golf Academy in La Quinta, Calif., Riggs has honed his skills in helping golfers improve their game. By following his technique for handling side-hill lies, players can enhance their performance and increase their chances of success on the course.

By implementing Riggs’ recommended adjustments to your setup and swing, you can improve your ability to navigate side-hill lies effectively. Taking one more club, aiming left of your target, positioning the ball up in your stance, and flexing your knees are crucial steps to set yourself up for a successful shot. Understanding that the ball is likely to fade and adjusting your approach accordingly will further enhance your chances of hitting the ball onto the green.

When swinging on a side-hill lie, it is important to focus on maintaining a smooth and controlled motion while keeping your lower body quiet. By avoiding getting stuck and striking the ground behind the ball, you can achieve a clean strike and improve your chances of a successful shot. Visualizing your club swinging back up the hill on the follow-through can help you stay on the correct path and execute the shot effectively. With practice and dedication to implementing Riggs’ technique, you can become more proficient at navigating side-hill lies on the golf course.

Brady Riggs’ expertise as a Top 100 Teacher lends credibility to his recommended technique for handling side-hill lies in golf. With a strong background in teaching and a proven track record of helping golfers improve their performance, Riggs’ insights are valuable for players looking to enhance their skills. By following his advice and practicing the adjustments he suggests, golfers can gain confidence in navigating challenging lies on the course and improve their overall game. The combination of proper setup, swing adjustments, and visualization techniques can make a significant difference in performance when faced with side-hill lies.
