Titleist has recently launched a new golf ball fitting app that aims to help golfers and fitters find the best ball to improve scoring. Whether it’s for a new driver, wedges, irons, or a golf ball, having the right tools will help improve distance, accuracy, and dispersion. The Titleist golf ball fitting app requires the golfer to hit a series of shots, including half wedges, a full pitching wedge, a 7-iron, and a driver, using the Titleist Pro V1 as a baseline. The data is collected with the help of a Titleist fitter and a Trackman launch monitor, and individualized recommendations are provided based on the data collected.
The app also includes preference questions that cover qualitative options about a player’s golf game, playing conditions, and feel preference. The goal of the new fitting app is to make golf ball fitting more accessible and convenient for golfers. The app is currently part of Titleist’s SureFit portal available to their network of custom fitters, and is not yet consumer-facing. However, the Titleist team is looking at ways to expand the availability of the app in the future.
While distance is crucial in improving scoring, Titleist’s golf ball fitting app is not solely focused on the longest-hitting ball. Factors like dispersion, descent angle, and distance all contribute to improving proximity to the hole and scoring. The app’s algorithm takes into account short game control and iron dispersion as key parts of the ball fitting process. The algorithm is designed to provide all-around performance as the key metric for selecting the best ball for each individual golfer.
The four options recommended by the fitting app are the Pro V1, Pro V1X, Pro V1X (Left Dash), and the AVX. Each of these balls offers unique characteristics that can help golfers improve their performance on the course. The fitting app aims to provide golfers with accurate recommendations based on data-driven analysis and individual preferences.
