In the year 2024, the golf world witnessed an unprecedented number of players achieving a sub-60 round, showcasing their remarkable skills and talent on the course. Nine players managed to break the 60 barrier, setting new records and making headlines in the golfing community.

The first player to achieve this feat was Joaquin Niemann at the LIV Golf Mayakoba tournament on February 2nd. With a score of 59, he set the stage for an exciting year of golf ahead. Niemann’s outstanding performance included 10 birdies and an eagle, earning him his maiden LIV Golf title and setting the bar high for the rest of the season.

Following Niemann’s impressive round, Cristobal Del Solar made history by carding a 57 at the Astara Golf Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour just six days later. This remarkable achievement marked the lowest round ever recorded on a PGA Tour-sanctioned event, highlighting Del Solar’s exceptional skill and talent on the course.

Aldrich Potgieter continued the trend of sub-60 rounds by shooting a 59 the very next day at the same tournament, becoming the youngest player to achieve this feat in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Despite his outstanding performance, Potgieter finished T20 in the tournament, showcasing the competitive nature of professional golf.

On March 16th, John Catlin joined the elite club of sub-60 round achievers by shooting a 59 at the International Series Macau on the Asian Tour. Catlin’s incredible round included nine birdies and a memorable eagle on the 18th hole, solidifying his place in golf history and leaving him speechless at his accomplishment.

Frankie Capan III added his name to the list of sub-60 round achievers on April 25th at the Veritex Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. With a score of 58, Capan III managed to break the previous course record set by Scottie Scheffler, showcasing his exceptional talent and potential in the professional golf world.

Harry Hillier became the sixth player to achieve a sub-60 round on May 17th at the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship on the PGA Tour Americas. With a score of 59, Hillier dominated the course with precision and skill, securing his first PGA Tour-sanctioned victory and earning conditional status on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour.

Cameron Young continued the streak of sub-60 rounds on June 21st at the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour, where he shot a 59 at TPC River Highlands. Despite his impressive performance, Young had to settle for a T9 finish in the tournament, highlighting the competitive nature of professional golf and the challenges that come with achieving such a milestone.

Hayden Springer added his name to the list of sub-60 round achievers on July 4th at the John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour. With a score of 59, Springer showcased his skills on the course with eight birdies and two eagles, setting the stage for a promising future in professional golf.

In November, Patrick Reed became the ninth player to achieve a sub-60 round at the LINK Hong Kong Open on the Asian Tour. With 11 birdies during his third round, Reed solidified his position as a top contender in the golf world and secured his first win in four years, showcasing his resilience and determination on the course.

Overall, the year 2024 was one for the history books in the golf world, with multiple players achieving sub-60 rounds and setting new records in the sport. These remarkable feats showcased the talent and skill of the players, creating excitement and anticipation for the future of professional golf.
