The John Deere Classic saw Davis Thompson emerge victorious this year, following in the footsteps of J.T. Poston and Sepp Straka, who had also rented the same house near TPC Deere Run in previous years. Thompson shot 62-64 on the weekend, setting a tournament scoring record with a total of 28-under-par 256. His win earned him a spot in the British Open and a winner’s check of $1.44 million from the $8 million purse. Amateur Luke Clanton tied for second place with Michael Thorbjornsen and C.T. Pan, making him the first amateur since 1958 to record back-to-back top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.

The prize money payout for each golfer in the tournament varied based on their final standings. Along with Thompson’s impressive win, Thorbjornsen and Pan each received $712,000 for their second-place finish. Ben Griffin and Carson Young tied for fifth place, earning $360,000 each. Aaron Rai, Denny McCarthy, Andrew Novak, Hayden Springer, and Eric Cole shared the seventh-place position with each receiving $252,400. Overall, the prize money varied across the field, with the winner taking home the highest payout.

Several notable players, including Sungjae Im, Brendon Todd, Harry Hall, Chan Kim, and Sami Valimaki, tied for twelfth place, earning $171,600 each. Seamus Power, Ben Silverman, and Keith Mitchell were among the players who finished in the top twenty, taking home $138,000, $126,000, and $126,000, respectively. The rest of the field also received varying amounts in prize money based on their final standings in the tournament.

The tournament marked a significant milestone for amateur golfer Luke Clanton, who performed exceptionally well to finish tied for second place. His impressive showing earned him recognition as the first amateur since 1958 to achieve back-to-back top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. The success of Clanton, alongside established professionals like Davis Thompson and C.T. Pan, highlights the competitive nature of the John Deere Classic and the talent of the players who participated in the event this year.

In addition to the prize money and recognition, the top finishers, including Davis Thompson and C.T. Pan, earned exemptions into the upcoming British Open at Royal Troon. This opportunity to compete at a prestigious major championship further solidifies their standing in the golfing world and provides them with a chance to showcase their skills on an international stage. The John Deere Classic serves as a platform for both seasoned professionals and emerging talents to shine and make a name for themselves in the golfing community.

Overall, the John Deere Classic proved to be an exciting and competitive event, with players like Davis Thompson and Luke Clanton making headlines for their impressive performances. The tournament’s prize money payout reflected the players’ standings, with the winner taking home a substantial amount for their victory. The success of both professionals and amateurs at the event highlights the depth of talent in the golfing world and sets the stage for future competitions where players can continue to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.
