Penalty for Minjee Lee after leaving training aid in bag at The Annika

On a strange Saturday at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, Australian golfer Minjee Lee found herself in an unusual situation. Lee had accidentally left an extra club in her golf bag, which was actually a training aid. Upon realizing her mistake, Lee immediately informed a rules official on the second tee and was given a two-stroke penalty, resulting in a double bogey on the first hole.

Despite the penalty, Lee managed to bounce back with four birdies and an eagle during the round, putting herself back in contention. However, another double bogey on the par-4 17th and a bogey on the 18th set her back. Lee finished the round with a 1-under 69 and currently sits six strokes behind leader Charley Hull, who is at 12 under for the tournament.

Lee’s consistent play throughout the tournament has kept her in the mix, with rounds of 66-69-69 putting her in a share of 11th place. Despite the setback on Saturday, Lee has shown her resilience and ability to stay competitive in the field. With one more round to go, Lee will look to make a final push and climb up the leaderboard.

The penalty for exceeding the 14-club limit was a learning experience for Lee, who stated that she had never made such a mistake before in her career. However, she handled the situation with professionalism and continued to focus on her game. Lee’s determination and skill on the course have been evident throughout the tournament, and she will look to finish strong in the final round.

As a two-time major winner, Lee is no stranger to pressure situations and has the experience to overcome challenges on the course. Her mental toughness and ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances will be key as she looks to make a move in the final round. With her talent and competitive spirit, Lee has the potential to shake up the leaderboard and make a run at the title.

Overall, Lee’s performance at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican has been impressive, despite the early setback on Saturday. Her strong play and positive attitude have kept her in contention, and she will be a player to watch in the final round. As she navigates the challenges of the course, Lee’s focus and determination will be crucial in determining her final standing in the tournament.
