Peter Uihlein secured his second International Series victory of the year on the Asian Tour, winning by five strokes at the Doha Golf Club in Qatar. He held off the challenge of fellow LIV golfers Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen, who finished as runners-up. Uihlein started the final round one stroke ahead of Zach Bauchou, with Schwartzel six strokes behind and Oosthuizen trailing by five. Despite a slow start with a bogey on the third hole, Uihlein recovered well with back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh.
Bauchou struggled with a double bogey on the third hole that he failed to recover from, ultimately finishing six strokes behind Uihlein at the turn. Schwartzel and Oosthuizen displayed their skills with solid performances but were unable to close the gap on the leader. Uihlein remained consistent throughout the round, finishing with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to secure the victory on 16-under par. This win marked Uihlein’s second International Series victory of the season.
Other LIV golfers who performed well in the tournament included Dean Burmester, Anirban Lahiri, Eugenio Chacarra, and Kieran Vincent, who all finished in the top 10. The previous leader in the International Series standings, John Catlin, finished T19 in the tournament, allowing Uihlein to overtake him in the rankings. With just one more event left in the season, Uihlein’s position at the top of the standings could earn him a contract on the LIV Golf circuit.
In his post-tournament remarks, Uihlein expressed confidence in his game and noted that he felt it was trending in the right direction. He mentioned that he still had to perform well in the upcoming event to secure his position at the top of the standings and earn the 1,000 points awarded to the winner. The outcome of the next tournament will determine who earns a contract on the LIV Golf circuit via the standings route.
