The 152nd edition of The Open Championship is set to take place at Royal Troon, featuring 158 of the world’s top golfers. The course is known for its challenging terrain, including wind-swept hills, bunkers, and the infamous Par-3 “Postage Stamp” eighth hole. Despite the difficulties of the course, Scottie Scheffler is favored to win the final major of 2024, with odds of +450 on golf betting sites. Other top contenders include Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, and Bryson DeChambeau.

Bookies.com handicapper Adam Thompson provides his Open Championship best bets, picks, and predictions. Some of the recommended picks include Xander Schauffele for a Top 10 finish, Ludvig Aberg for a Top 5 finish, Alex Noren and Louis Oosthuizen for a Top 20 finish, and Aaron Rai also for a Top 20 finish. These picks are based on factors such as scrambling, Greens In Regulation (GIR), Strokes Gained: Approach, and overall performance on the tour.

Schauffele, known for his scrambling ability and GIR, is a strong contender for a Top 10 finish at Royal Troon. Aberg, while less experienced, has shown potential with seven Top 10 finishes in 15 starts and a willingness to take risks. Noren’s ability to get out of trouble and solid approach make him a reliable pick for a Top 20 finish. Oosthuizen, with his strong Scrambling and fairways hit, is also a solid choice for a Top 20 finish. Rai, with his recent hot streak and top stats in scrambling, GIR, and Strokes Gained: Approach, is another strong pick for a Top 20 finish.

Gannett may earn revenue from sports betting operators for audience referrals to betting services, but these revenues do not affect the news coverage provided by the newsrooms. It is important to be aware of the terms and conditions of sports betting operators and to seek help if a gambling problem is detected. Overall, the 2024 Open Championship promises to be an exciting event with top contenders vying for victory on the challenging Royal Troon course.
