Preston Summerhays from Arizona State Tops PGA Tour University Preseason Rankings for Class of 2025

The college golf season is approaching and with it comes the excitement of the 2024-25 season where the best amateurs will compete for a national championship. The NCAA Championship will take place at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, California, where Stanford women and Auburn men claimed victory in the previous season. As the new season begins, PGA Tour University has released its preseason rankings for the Class of 2025, with players from 21 schools represented in the top 25.

The rankings are determined based on players’ performances in NCAA Division I men’s team competitions, PGA Tour tournaments, and select DP World Tour events over the past two years. The No. 1 player in the final rankings next May will earn PGA Tour membership, with players ranking from 2-5 earning fully exempt Korn Ferry Tour membership, and players 6-25 earning fully exempt membership for the North America Swing of PGA Tour Americas in 2025. Notably, top amateur Gordon Sargent is not included as he has already secured his PGA Tour card.

Some of the top players to watch in the Class of 2025 include Preston Summerhays, who had a successful junior season and made an impact in various tournaments. Omar Morales from Mexico has also been a standout player, with significant achievements in collegiate and amateur competitions. Brendan Valdes, Calum Scott, and Jackson Van Paris are other notable players to watch in the upcoming season.

The preseason rankings also feature players like David Ford, Jackson Buchanan, and Ian Gilligan, showcasing the depth of talent in the Class of 2025. Drew Goodman, Deven Patel, and Gray Albright are among the top 25 players to keep an eye on as the season progresses. With players from various countries represented in the rankings, the competition promises to be intense and exciting.

Overall, the Class of 2025 in PGA Tour University is filled with talented and promising amateur golfers who are set to make their mark in the upcoming season. With the opportunity to earn PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour membership on the line, these players will be motivated to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.
