Marianne Skarpnord, a professional golfer from Norway, has gained attention for her unique putting style on the Ladies European Tour. Skarpnord uses both a right-handed and a left-handed putter in her bag, alternating between the two depending on the length of the putt she is facing. This unconventional approach has sparked curiosity and interest among fans and commentators, as they watch her navigate the greens with precision and skill. Skarpnord’s decision to use two different putters stems from a struggle with putting yips, which led her to experiment with alternative methods to improve her game. Despite initial embarrassment, Skarpnord has found success with her dual-putter strategy, allowing her to build confidence and trust in her putting abilities.

Skarpnord’s putting journey began about a year and a half ago when she made the switch from a natural right-handed putting style to a left-handed approach. This change was motivated by a desire to overcome the putting yips that were affecting her performance on the course. While the transition was challenging at first, Skarpnord eventually found comfort and success with her left-handed putter, particularly on short putts. By feeling more at ease with her putting stroke, Skarpnord was able to alleviate stress and anxiety during her rounds, leading to improved performance overall. However, she encountered difficulties with long-range putts using her left-handed putter, prompting her to reintroduce a right-handed putter for longer distances.

The combination of right-handed and left-handed putters in Skarpnord’s bag has allowed her to address the specific challenges she faces on different parts of the green. By using a right-handed putter for longer putts and a left-handed putter for shorter putts, Skarpnord can optimize her chances of success and minimize the impact of putting inconsistencies on her overall game. This strategic approach reflects Skarpnord’s dedication to finding innovative solutions to improve her performance and competitiveness on the tour. Despite the unconventional nature of her putting technique, Skarpnord’s results speak for themselves, as she continues to hone her skills and adapt to the demands of professional golf competition.

At the recent Ladies European Tour’s Australian Women’s Classic, Skarpnord showcased her dual-putter method to a global audience, drawing attention and admiration for her creativity and determination. While initially met with skepticism and curiosity, Skarpnord’s approach has been validated by her consistent performance and visible improvement on the green. As she refines her putting technique and fine-tunes her game, Skarpnord remains a unique and inspiring figure in the world of professional golf, demonstrating that innovation and adaptability are essential qualities for success in a competitive sport. With her fearless attitude and unwavering commitment to excellence, Skarpnord continues to push the boundaries of traditional golfing norms and set new standards for performance and versatility on the course.
