Protestors display ‘pay your debts’ signs to Tony Finau at Utah golf course

Protestors gathered at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington, Utah, to protest professional golfer Tony Finau over a long-running dispute about money he allegedly owes to investors who funded his early playing career. Holding signs with messages like “Tony Pay Your Debts” and “Tony Pay Your Family Back,” the protestors aimed to raise awareness about their claims. Finau arrived at the golf course to find about 12 people at the front gates where he holds his annual golf tournament and clinic. The protest organizer, Rocky Bowlby, stated that the goal was to show the public the “real Tony” that they believe people do not know.

The protestors were at the country club more than two hours before Finau arrived with his family. When Deseret News tried to get a comment from Finau, they were told to leave the premises. Bowlby claimed that Finau, along with his father Kelepi “Gary” Finau and brother Gipper Finau, owed him over $100,000 for various expenses like loans, rent payments, cars, and travel to China. However, Bowlby stated that he was not seeking compensation through legal action. On the other hand, Monolai Hola filed a lawsuit against Finau, claiming he is owed over $600,000 and seeking 20 percent of Finau’s professional winnings.

One of the cases against Finau was dropped in February, while Hola’s lawsuit is scheduled for trial in September and is unlikely to be settled out of court beforehand. Finau is a professional golfer with a successful career, but these financial disputes have brought negative attention to his personal life. It remains to be seen how these allegations will impact Finau’s reputation and future career prospects in the competitive world of professional golf.

Despite the protests and lawsuits, Finau continues to play golf and compete in tournaments. He has not publicly addressed the allegations or disputes, leaving many to wonder about the truth behind the claims. The protest at Oakridge Country Club signifies the seriousness of the claims against Finau and the impact they are having on his public image. As the lawsuits move forward, the golfing community and fans of Finau will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds and whether it will have any lasting repercussions on his career.

In conclusion, the protests at Oakridge Country Club shine a light on the financial disputes surrounding Tony Finau’s career and personal life. With protestors demanding that Finau pay back money owed to investors and lawsuits filed against him seeking substantial amounts, Finau’s reputation as a professional golfer may be at stake. As the legal battles play out in court, Finau’s future in the golfing world remains uncertain. Only time will tell how these allegations will impact Finau’s career and public perception moving forward.
