PXG introduces the next generation of irons: The 0311 GEN7

PXG has released its latest iteration of the 0311 GEN7 irons, which are designed for five- to 18-handicap golfers looking for more ball speed and forgiveness. With a price of $229.99 for the chrome finish and $239.99 for the Xtreme Dark finish per club, these irons feature a hollow-body design that includes a forged and milled 8620 carbon steel body, HT1770 maraging steel face, internal tungsten weight, internal polymer, and adjustable titanium back weight.

The PXG 0311 GEN7 irons are crafted using a meticulous process that involves forging the clubhead five times before milling the back to create the final shape. The addition of HT1770 maraging steel in the face allows for increased flexibility and efficiency at the moment of impact. Inside the hollow portion of the head, a new QuantumCOR polymer is injected to enhance energy transfer, resulting in more ball speed and distance.

To increase stability and forgiveness, PXG has included a 20-gram internal tungsten weight in the toe of the irons. This weight, along with a titanium back weight screw, shifts more weight to the perimeter, increasing the overall MOI and reducing twisting on off-center hits. Fitters can adjust the back weight to customize the swing weight and overall weight of the irons to match the golfer’s needs.

The PXG 0311 GEN7 P irons are aimed at low to mid-handicap golfers seeking more distance and stability, while the XP irons cater to mid to higher-handicap players looking for maximum forgiveness and distance. While the clubs look similar cosmetically, the XP irons have stronger lofts compared to the P irons. Golfers can mix and match the irons to create a blended set by working with a custom fitter for optimal performance.

PXG claims that the GEN7 irons deliver almost the same launch angle as the GEN6 irons but with more ball speed and less spin, resulting in increased distance and tighter dispersion. The GEN7 P irons have a smaller blade length, less offset, and a thinner topline, making them suitable for golfers looking for improved performance. Overall, these irons blend the aesthetics of a better-player’s blade with the forgiveness and distance benefits of a game improvement iron.

In conclusion, the PXG 0311 GEN7 irons are a high-performing option for golfers seeking enhanced ball speed, forgiveness, and distance. With advanced materials and technologies, these irons offer customization options to cater to various handicap levels and playing styles. By working with a custom fitter, golfers can optimize their set composition to achieve the best results on the course.
