PXG has recently released their newest golf balls, the Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X, priced at $49.99 per dozen. These three-piece, urethane-covered golf balls are designed for golfers who want a soft feel, low spin off the tee, and high spin around the green. The Xtreme Tour X is specifically made for faster-swinging players who want a firmer feel, maximum ball speed, and higher spin with irons. Both balls are available in white, with the Xtreme Tour also offered in yellow.

The new Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X balls are more durable and provide a better feel compared to PXG’s original Xtreme ball. The cover of these new golf balls is thinner to boost durability, as softer, thicker covers can easily compress against wedge grooves. The compression of the original Xtreme ball was 110, while the Xtreme Tour is at 97 and the Xtreme Tour X is at 107, making them softer while remaining firm for speed.

Testing of the Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X balls showed slightly more ball speed off the tee with lower spin rates compared to the original Xtreme ball. They also generated a slightly higher launch angle and lower peak height. In 7-iron shots, the results were similar, with both new balls offering slightly lower spin rates. On 60-yard pitch shots, the Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X produced nearly the same spin as the original Xtreme ball.

In PXG’s tests, the Xtreme Tour X created slightly more ball speed off the tee and about 2.5 yards more total distance compared to the Xtreme Tour. The Xtreme Tour X also generated approximately 200 rpm more spin on wedge shots than the standard Xtreme Tour. These new balls are designed to cater to a wide range of golfers, offering different levels of compression, spin, and feel to suit individual preferences.

The yellow version of the Xtreme Tour falls between the firmness levels of the white Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X, with a compression of 101. This difference in compression is due to the color additive used in the yellow version. Both the Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X have a large rubber, firm mantle layer and a soft urethane cover, making them versatile options for golfers looking for performance and durability on the course.

Overall, the PXG Xtreme Tour and Xtreme Tour X golf balls offer a combination of distance, spin, and feel that cater to different player preferences. With a focus on durability and performance, these new balls are designed to enhance a golfer’s game with maximum spin around the green and consistent performance off the tee. Whether you prefer a softer feel or firmer response, PXG’s latest offerings deliver on both fronts, providing a premium option for golfers looking for quality golf balls.
