Review of Ben Hogan Legend Irons

The Ben Hogan Legend irons are a high-performing set of hollow body, foam-filled irons that come at a direct-to-consumer price. These clubs have a clean look that is typical of the Ben Hogan brand, with the signature across the top and the BH sun logo on the lower toe. The only giveaway that these are not blades is the sole width and the screw in the toe. However, the offset at address is more noticeable, pushing this set more towards the game improvement player.

Despite being hollow body irons, the Ben Hogan Legend irons provide a satisfying impact experience with a quiet, low-pitched “click” sound on pure strikes. The longer irons have a more bouncy feel and are slightly louder. Mishits sound a little clunky, lacking the crispness of a good strike. The Ben Hogan Legend irons also offer solid feedback on strike quality, with misses feeling firmer but not stinging.

In terms of performance, the Ben Hogan Legend irons aim to rival the TaylorMade P790, a successful iron in the last decade. These irons are capable of producing peak ball speed and provide high launch angles and higher than average spin. The V-Sole design of the Ben Hogan Legend irons sets them apart from competitors, offering a blend of a wide sole and anti-digging traits without feeling cumbersome. Customization options for shafts, grips, length, loft, and lie add to the value of these irons.

Despite being slightly less forgiving than their more expensive counterparts, the Ben Hogan Legend irons still perform well on the course, turning mishits into greens in regulation. The V-Sole design enhances playability and versatility for a wide range of golfers. With the option to choose from up to eight no up-charge shaft options and three grip options, along with customization for length, loft, and lie, these irons provide incredible value for the price.

Overall, the Ben Hogan Legend irons offer almost everything the TaylorMade P790 does at a lower price point, making them a wise choice for golfers looking for premium performance at a more affordable cost. The combination of high performance, customization options, and a reasonable price point make the Ben Hogan Legend irons a standout choice for golfers seeking quality irons without breaking the bank. With a focus on providing golfers with exceptional value and performance, Ben Hogan continues to deliver high-quality products that cater to a wide range of players.
