Cobra had a successful year in 2024 with their Darkspeed range, which was well-received by both regular golfers and professional tours worldwide. Now, they have introduced their latest driver family, the DS-ADAPT, with the core model being the DS-ADAPT X. This driver features some improved aerodynamics, a reimagined H.O.T. face, and a hosel adapter called FutureFit33, allowing for 33 different loft and lie angle settings. Cobra has simplified the adjustment process with a guidance chart and an interactive app accessible by scanning a QR code on the driver’s head.

The FutureFit33 hosel adapter allows players to customize their loft and lie angle settings without sacrificing one for the other. Cobra has also addressed the issue of face angle adjustments with their SmartPad technology, ensuring that the driver sits squarely behind the ball at address regardless of the setting. While some players may prefer to have the option of adjusting the face angle, the SmartPad technology provides consistency and performance benefits for most golfers.

Visually, the DS-ADAPT X is similar to the Darkspeed X but features subtle blue accents and a slightly softened triangular head profile. Performance-wise, the X model offers a comfortable launch, mid-range spin, and forgiveness. The driver includes two adjustable weights in the sole, allowing players to tailor their ball flight characteristics. Switching the weights can result in lower spin and a driver that falls between the LS and X models, offering versatility for different playing conditions.

The feel of the DS-ADAPT X is a standout feature, with a smooth and delightful mid-level pitch that makes striking the driver a pleasure. The driver offers tangible performance gains and a pleasing acoustic that contributes to the overall feel of the club. With a price point slightly lower than competitors, the DS-ADAPT X provides excellent value for golfers looking for a high-performance driver. The driver comes in a range of premium aftermarket shaft options and loft choices, making it suitable for a wide range of players.

Overall, the DS-ADAPT X driver is an excellent all-rounder with broad appeal in the marketplace. Whether players prefer a neutral weight setting for moderate speed or a more aggressive spin profile for quicker swings, the driver offers versatility and performance benefits. With its quality construction, innovative technologies, and competitive pricing, the DS-ADAPT X is a compelling option for golfers looking to enhance their game.
