The PING G730 irons are known for their forgiveness, strong yet playable lofts, larger profile, pleasing sound, and feel. In terms of looks, they clearly fall into the game improvement category with their increased size compared to previous models. The design of the cavity is simple yet appealing, with angular elements and a dark grey badge perimeter. The sound produced by the irons is a distinctive “snap,” with added brightness on centered strikes. Impact feels firm, providing positive reinforcement for the golfer.

The performance of the PING G730 irons is consistent and forgiving, even on off-center strikes. PING claims approximately five more yards of distance with these irons due to lower lofts and moderate spin, but the specifics of this claim are not provided. The advanced heat treatment techniques used on the stainless steel face increase flexing for boosted ball speeds. The multiple flex zone PurFlex cavity badge helps control face bending and preserve ball speed across the hitting surface.

PING offers two loft options in addition to the standard set: Power Spec (stronger) and Retro Spec (weaker), allowing fitters to customize the irons to suit individual players. The tungsten toe screw and shaft tip weights can be adjusted to fine-tune swing weight as needed. According to PING CEO & President John K. Solheim, the G730 irons are the longest and most forgiving in the current lineup. He emphasizes that these irons are designed to make the game easier and more enjoyable for golfers.

Overall, the PING G730 irons are highly lauded for their forgiveness, playability, and distance. The larger head size may be a drawback for some players, but the performance benefits outweigh this potential concern. With the G730 irons, PING has managed to create a set that caters to mid to high handicappers looking to improve their game. These irons are engineered to provide maximum forgiveness and playability, making them a top choice for golfers seeking to enhance their performance on the course.
