Review of the Legato LTX 3085 Golf Ball

Legato Golf is a relatively new brand that offers golf balls at an affordable price point. The Legato LTX 3085 is a 3-piece urethane covered ball that promises “Maximized Distance with Softer Feel”. Priced at $30 a dozen on Amazon, the value on offer is impressive, especially during sale events when you can get them even cheaper. The ball features a 350-dimple design for maximum aerodynamics and steady performance in any condition. After testing the ball, it is found to deliver on its promise of a soft, responsive feel with every shot.

The Legato LTX 3085 is a good fit for golfers with handicaps around 10 and upwards. It has a compression of 85 and is designed for players who prefer a softer feeling golf ball. The ball’s performance on the course is solid, with comparable distance and flight off the tee compared to other premium balls. However, some players may find the launch to be lower than what they are used to with fairway woods. Approach shots had good control and stopping power, particularly with shorter irons, while chip shots and bunker play were also effective.

One standout feature of the Legato LTX 3085 is its durability. Despite having a urethane cover, which can be prone to scuffing, this ball held up well even after multiple rounds of play. The ball’s appearance is also aesthetically pleasing, with a classy design and a ‘Bold Track’ alignment aid for those who prefer visual alignment cues. The feel off the putter face is described as a bit muted, but still satisfactory for most players.

Overall, the Legato LTX 3085 offers good value for golfers looking for a quality ball at an affordable price. While it may not replace top-tier balls like the Titleist ProV1, it provides a solid alternative for players with handicaps in the low single digits. The ball’s performance is consistent and reliable, making it a suitable choice for a wide range of players. Whether you are a mid to high handicap player looking for a reliable golf ball or simply seeking a budget-friendly option, the Legato LTX 3085 is worth considering for your next round on the course.
