Golf coach and inventor Martin Chuck, known for creating the Tour Striker and the Educator, has designed a new club called The ONE Wedge to help golfers improve their short game. The wedge features a unique design with a massive sole, full-face grooves, and a counterbalanced shaft. In this article, we will review The ONE Wedge’s looks, sound and feel, performance, and overall effectiveness as a short game tool.

The looks of The ONE Wedge are striking, with a large sole, “Pitch Control” branding, and a cavity back with multiple levels and textures. At address, the club features a large face covered in grooves, lines at 45-degree angles, and a thicker top line on the toe side. Surprisingly, the hosel has a PING EYE2 look, giving it a unique appearance compared to traditional wedges.

In terms of sound and feel, The ONE Wedge delivers a medium soft feel on centered impacts, with a distinct “thud” sound. Mishits produce a slightly louder “knock” at impact, providing feedback on the strike location. While the feel feedback may not be pinpoint accurate, it is sufficient for golfers to determine how well they struck the ball.

The performance of The ONE Wedge is backed by several features, including the “4-Way Auto-React Sole” for turf interaction, “Pitch Control Weighting” for forgiveness, and “Control Spin Grooves” for increased spin. During testing, the wedge showed consistent launch angles, above-average spin, and tight dispersion. The sole design made it nearly impossible to hit fat shots, but limits versatility for players who like to manipulate the club face.

Overall, The ONE Wedge is a valuable tool for golfers struggling with their short game. While claims of lowering scores by 7-9 shots should be taken with a grain of salt, the wedge’s high spin, forgiveness, and turf interaction make it a compelling option for improving performance around the green. For golfers looking to simplify their short game and reduce stress, The ONE Wedge could be a game-changer.
