The TaylorMade P770 model has undergone a makeover to position it closer to the new ‘player cavity’ iron, the P7CB, distinguishing it from the popular P790 model. The technology in the P770 has seen slight advancements, such as heel and toe tungsten weighting for increased MOI, refined CG locations for optimal ball flight, and a lower leading edge for better turf interaction. The visual appeal of the P770 has also improved, with a brushed finish and minimal branding giving it a sleek and modern look.

In terms of performance, the P770 offers consistency and reliability, with more ball speed and launch than the P7CB due to its hollow body construction. Despite the strong numbers, the iron is not overly hot off the face and delivers consistent results, making it suitable for low handicap players. The newly-designed sole enhances turf interaction, providing a high-quality feel and impact sensation.

The rebranding of the P770 aligns well with the P7CB and offers the opportunity to create a cohesive combo set between the two models. Custom options are available for the P770, with stock sets featuring Dynamic Gold Mid 115 shafts and Golf Pride Z-Grips. The P770 irons are available in 3-AW, with an RRP of £179 per iron, making them a competitive option for golfers looking for quality irons.

The aesthetic improvements of the P770, such as the thinner topline and shorter blade length, give it a more low handicap look and feel, distinguishing it from its predecessors. The iron’s performance has been tested and proven to be consistent and reliable, with no ‘jumper’ or ‘hot one’ shots experienced during testing. The P770 offers a balance of distance and control, making it a suitable option for players of varying skill levels.

Overall, the TaylorMade P770 irons have undergone significant improvements in both technology and aesthetics, positioning them as a strong contender among the best golf irons on the market. The rebranding and visual updates have enhanced the iron’s appeal, while the performance remains consistent and reliable. With a focus on player feedback and technological advancements, the P770 offers a compelling option for golfers looking for a high-quality set of irons to improve their game.
