TaylorMade Qi35 Tour Fairway Wood: A Casual Review

Quick Overview

So, if you’re in the market for a new fairway wood, let me introduce you to the TaylorMade Qi35 Tour. This bad boy is packed with adjustability that TaylorMade fans will absolutely love! We’re talking quick, workable, and just downright techy. Plus, it comes with a nifty slidable weight in the sole that can majorly affect how the ball flies. Let’s dive into the details!

Getting to Know the Qi35 Tour

Fast forward about three years from the introduction of TaylorMade’s innovative sliding weight, and here we are with the Qi35 Tour fairway wood—more forgiving, adjustable, and polished than the previous iterations. And if you’re like me and appreciate a variety of loft options, you’ll be thrilled. Not only do you get the classic 3 and 5 woods (15° and 18°, respectively), but they’ve also introduced a 7 wood at 21°. Higher lofted woods are making a comeback, and it’s about time we got in on the action!

Eye-Catching Looks

Let’s talk aesthetics for a second. In a world dominated by black and white clubs, TaylorMade stepped outside the box with a futuristic matte grey finish—referred to as “matte chromium.” The gunmetal grey Infinity Carbon Crown and the sleek alignment dot give this club a vibe that makes it feel like it came straight from the future, like 2035 or something. It’s not just a club—it’s a statement piece!

A Complex Design

Now, if the sleek look didn’t catch your attention, wait until you see the sole. It features a 40g slideable and flippable weight that can add some serious versatility. This club screams tech-savvy! I honestly felt like Optimus Prime every time I pulled it out of the bag, with its head cover that looks like something you’d find in a sci-fi movie. Trust me, your buddies will be asking where you found such a cool club!

Feel and Sound That Packs a Punch

Let’s move on to how it feels and sounds. You’ll quickly notice this club has a punchy, deep thud when striking the ball—a satisfying sound that gives you an instant confidence boost. Thanks to the thin and light titanium face, when you adjust the weight towards the face, it intensifies that feeling of strength. But if you want a more stable feel, just pull the weight back. TaylorMade has a reputation for providing premium sensations with their woods, and the Qi35 Tour definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Performance That Will Surprise You

Performance-wise, this fairway wood is incredibly adjustable. With the adapter sleeve, you can tweak loft and face angle by plus or minus two degrees, which is super handy. The real game-changer here is that 40g weight; move it around, and you’ll feel like you’re playing with five different clubs in one. That’s right, this single club can morph to fit various shot types, whether you’re aiming for distance or control.

Unleashing Your Inner Experimenter

During my time testing the 3 wood, I had an absolute blast experimenting with different lofts and weight settings. Pulling the weight back gave me a soft landing shot, while pushing it forward turned it into a mini-driver—talk about versatility! Subtle adjustments can yield a soaring ball flight or a penetrating shot that rolls like crazy. With plenty of options to mix and match, it’s like owning a mini golf workshop in just one club.

The Verdict on Forgiveness

Despite its many advantages, I have to flag that the Qi35 Tour may not be the most forgiving wood in TaylorMade’s lineup. While it’s certainly more forgiving than many, the standard Qi35 Fairway Wood is easier to hit for most players. If you’re a high-level striker looking for precision and adjustability, this is your go-to. If you’re just trying to enjoy your game, you might want to keep the basic model in mind.

Wrapping It Up

So, what’s the final word? The TaylorMade Qi35 Tour fairway wood is an exceptional club with superb adjustability, a killer look, and great performance. While I would have loved a smidge more forgiveness, the customization options easily make up for it. For serious golfers wanting to fine-tune their clubs, this is a dream come true!
