Review of the Wilson Duo Soft 2025 Golf Ball

The Wilson Duo Soft golf ball has been a popular choice for golfers with slower swing speeds and for senior players, and the 2025 version has been given an upgrade to make it even softer with a compression rating of 37. This two-piece surlyn covered ball features a newly engineered high-energy core that is designed to help golfers carry the ball longer and minimize spin for a straighter flight. The dimple pattern has also been adjusted to ensure a high peak trajectory while maintaining a flat overall flight.

The Duo Soft is known for its incredibly soft feel and appealing price point, making it a great value option for golfers who need help generating distance off the tee. The low compression of this ball allows it to compress easily for slower swing speeds, increasing distance for those who struggle to generate much swing speed. However, the lower compression and lower spinning characteristics of the Duo Soft may limit its performance for golfers with faster swing speeds.

While the Duo Soft excels with driver and provides a nice feel off the tee, it may not offer the same level of control on approach shots and around the green as premium balls with urethane covers. The surlyn cover of the Duo Soft is designed for distance and roll rather than spin and greenside control. Golfers who struggle with distance off the tee and need help with roll-out could benefit from the Duo Soft’s characteristics.

Testing the new Duo Soft on both the course and launch monitor revealed no discernible differences from the previous version, with similar flight, feel, distance, and overall performance. In comparison to the Wilson Triad, the Duo Soft offers a softer feel, less spin on approach shots, and more roll-out on the green. The Triad, on the other hand, provides a firmer feel, more spin, and better control on chip shots.

The new Duo Soft is available in a variety of colors, including white, red, orange, green, and pink, and is recommended for golfers with slower swing speeds or inconsistent high handicap players. The Duo Soft’s updated design brings it more in line with other Wilson balls, creating a uniform look across the golf ball family. Overall, the Wilson Duo Soft is a great choice for golfers who prioritize feel and distance off the tee, making it a valuable option for players looking to improve their game without breaking the bank.
