Review of Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash Golf Ball

Titleist is renowned for its high-quality golf balls, with models like the Pro V1 and Pro V1x being popular choices among golfers. However, the Pro V1 franchise also offers a lesser-known option in the form of the 2019 Pro V1x Left Dash. Initially only available to tour players, this ball was made accessible to all golfers in 2019 for £48 per dozen. But who is this ball suitable for, and can it truly be considered one of the best golf balls in the market?

The key technology behind the Pro V1x Left Dash is its large dual core, designed to promote high speeds and low spin. Testing using a launch monitor showed that the Left Dash was 3mph quicker in ball speed and 300rpm less in spin compared to the Pro V1x, resulting in a 7-yard gain in carry. This performance off the tee was impressive and would certainly appeal to golfers seeking distance and speed.

One aspect of the Left Dash that has been noted is its ‘clicky’ sound and firm feel. While the ball felt fast off the face with irons and drivers, it released more when chipping and had a firmer feel on the greens. This could potentially affect pace control for some golfers, especially those accustomed to using softer balls. The Left Dash has been compared to balls like the TaylorMade TP5x and the Srixon Z-Star XV, both known for their lower spin and firmer feel.

In terms of performance, the 2019 Pro V1x Left Dash delivers on its promise of a high flight, low spin, premium ball. It excels in all areas of the bag when struck well and with speed, making it a suitable choice for high-speed golfers. However, the lack of greenside spin and firmer feel off the putter face may prompt some players to opt for a softer, higher spinning ball like the standard Pro V1x, especially on firmer course conditions. Overall, the Left Dash is a solid choice for golfers seeking distance and speed, but individual preferences will ultimately dictate its suitability.
