Review of Wilson Dynapwr Carbon Fairway Wood

Wilson has expanded its range of fairway woods for 2025 with the release of the Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood, in addition to the standard Dynapwr fairway wood. As a low handicapper, I was eager to test out the Dynapwr Carbon and compare it to some of the other top fairway woods on the market. The Dynapwr Carbon features a sleek design with a gloss carbon crown and black and red accents, giving it a modern and stylish look. The compact appearance at address, along with the banner strip along the topline, helps with alignment and squaring the face to the target.

The goal of the Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood is to lower the flight, spin, and launch to provide tour-inspired performance. Testing both indoors and outdoors, I found that the Carbon model did indeed produce a lower launch, flatter trajectory, and reduced spin rates compared to the standard model. This resulted in a longer carry distance of 251 yards on average, showcasing the club’s ability to deliver increased distance and consistency. The improved sound and feel of the Carbon model, attributed to the carbon crown and lowered center of gravity, further enhanced the overall performance of the club.

Despite its impressive performance in terms of ball flight and power, the Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood may lack a bit of forgiveness on off-center strikes. While the A.I.-designed PKR-360 technology in the face helps maintain consistent ball speeds, mishits may result in decreased spin and stability, potentially leading to a shorter flight. However, skilled ball strikers will likely appreciate the long distance and fast ball speeds that the Carbon model can deliver, making it a strong choice for those looking to maximize their fairway wood performance.

In comparison to other forgiving fairway woods on the market, such as the TaylorMade Qi35 and Titleist GT3, the Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood stands out for its compact look and focus on distance and ball speed. While it may not offer the same level of forgiveness as some competitors, the Carbon model excels in providing a chasing, low-spinning ball flight that can benefit experienced players seeking added distance from a fairway wood. Overall, the Carbon fairway wood is best suited for skilled golfers who prioritize distance and ball speed over forgiveness on off-center strikes.

The Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood, along with the full Dynapwr range, is set to be released on February 12, 2025, with a retail price of £295 or $329.99. Golfers can expect to find the Carbon model both online and in golf stores, where they can experience the exceptional performance and sleek design that Wilson has incorporated into their latest fairway wood offering. With its focus on tour-inspired performance and innovative technology, the Wilson Dynapwr Carbon fairway wood is sure to make a strong impression on the market and appeal to players looking to elevate their game with a high-performing fairway wood.
