East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, the site of the 2024 Tour Championship, has undergone a restoration led by course architect Andrew Green. The original design was by Tom Bendelow in 1908, with subsequent redesigns by Donald Ross in 1913, George Cobb before the 1963 Ryder Cup, and Rees Jones in 1994. Green focused on restoring Ross’s features and playing characteristics, drawing inspiration from a 1949 image.

The renovations include complete bunker reworking, alterations to hazards, and changes to several hole lengths, but the most significant changes were made to the greens. The putting surfaces were resized and reshaped, with new hole positions that will challenge players in new ways. East Lake Golf Club ranks No. 5 in Georgia and No. 94 among all classic courses built before 1960 in the U.S. on Golfweek’s Best 2024 ranking of private clubs.

The layout will play at 7,490 yards with a par of 71 for the Tour Championship. Thanks to yardage books provided by PuttView, a maker of detailed yardage books for courses worldwide, players can see the specific challenges they will face at East Lake Golf Club this week. The maps of each hole are available for players to study and strategize their game plan.

The changes at East Lake Golf Club will offer players a fresh challenge that differs from more recent iterations of the course. The restoration work aimed to bring back some of the original Ross features and characteristics, enhancing the overall playing experience for golfers. With the focus on the greens and their new configurations, players will need precision and skill to navigate the course effectively.

As one of the top-ranked private clubs in Georgia and a significant classic course in the U.S., East Lake Golf Club holds a prestigious place in the golfing world. The Tour Championship at East Lake provides an opportunity for players to showcase their talent on a historic and challenging course that has been carefully restored to its former glory. The changes made by Andrew Green will test the skills and abilities of the PGA Tour players in new and exciting ways.

The PuttView yardage books offer a detailed look at each hole at East Lake Golf Club, allowing players to visualize the layout and plan their shots accordingly. With the unique challenges presented by the renovated greens and course features, players will need to adapt their strategies and approach to succeed at the Tour Championship. The competition at East Lake promises to be fierce as players contend with the new layout and its demands.
