The Zozo Championship 2024 kicked off in Inzai, Japan with a strong start from Eric Cole and C.T. Pan. Cole impressed with a 6-under 64, finishing with a smile after sinking a 27-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole. He attributed his success to precision with his irons and a straight drive off the tee, highlighting the importance of not short siding oneself. Cole, who finished T-2 at the Zozo Championship last year, expressed his satisfaction with his performance and his confidence in his approach to the course.

Pan, on the other hand, finished strong with four straight birdies to card a 65. Despite recent struggles with his game, including missed cuts and withdrawals from tournaments, Pan found his form with a final-round 64 in Las Vegas. He ranked first in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green and SG: Approach the Green, showcasing a strong overall performance in his game. Pan acknowledged his recent challenges but credited his turnaround to a standout performance in Las Vegas, where he made nine birdies to climb up the leaderboard.

Both Cole and Pan expressed their satisfaction with their performance in the first round of the Zozo Championship. Cole’s consistent precision with his irons and driving, coupled with Pan’s strong putting performance and improvement in his overall game, set a positive tone for the tournament. The players highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and executing their shots with precision to navigate the course effectively and put themselves in contention for a top finish.

The unique challenges posed by the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Inzai, Japan, added to the intrigue of the Zozo Championship. Players like Cole and Pan emphasized the need for accuracy and strategic shot-making to score well on the course. The layout and design of the course required players to be precise with their approach shots and avoid short-siding themselves, making it essential to have a well-rounded game that could handle the demands of the course.

As the tournament progressed, Cole and Pan showcased their skills and resilience on the challenging course in Inzai. Cole’s ability to stay focused and execute his shots with precision, combined with Pan’s improved performance and strong putting, positioned both players well for a successful tournament. Their positive start in the Zozo Championship highlighted their determination and skill on the course, setting the stage for an exciting competition as they competed against a strong field of competitors from around the world.
