Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the Memorial made him the first player since Tom Watson in 1980 to secure five wins before the U.S. Open. Despite using more modern equipment, Scheffler’s winning score of eight under par mirrored that of David Graham’s in 1980. Muirfield Village proved to be a challenging course, but Scheffler demonstrated his fortitude on Sunday to secure the win.

Throughout the tournament, Scheffler emphasized the importance of hitting great shots and executing well on specific holes. His performance on the par-3 16th, where he sank a 16-foot par putt, showcased his ability to handle pressure situations. Scheffler’s switch to a TaylorMade Spider Tour X X1 putter proved to be a game-changer, with the new putter providing him with improved consistency and accuracy on the greens.

Despite his solid putting performance, Scheffler’s approach game was particularly impressive, as he ranked first in strokes gained/approach the green and topped the field in greens in regulation. His TaylorMade P7TW irons, inspired by Tiger Woods’ muscleback blades, helped him maintain control and precision throughout the tournament.

Scheffler’s bag at the 2024 Memorial included a TaylorMade Qi10 driver and 3-wood, Srixopn ZU85 3-4 irons, TaylorMade P7TW 5-PW irons, Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges, a Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks prototype wedge, and a TaylorMade Spider Tour X X1 putter. The combination of these clubs, along with Scheffler’s skill and determination, contributed to his success at the Memorial.

Scheffler’s ability to perform under pressure and make crucial putts was evident throughout the tournament, showcasing his potential as a top contender in future events. His impressive performance at the Memorial solidified his status as a rising star in the world of professional golf. As he continues to hone his skills and refine his game, Scheffler is poised to achieve even greater success in the future.
