Travis Club, a new golf community near Austin, Texas, recently broke ground, with architect Beau Welling at the helm. Welling emphasized that the focus of the project is not just on creating stunning golf holes but on providing a unique experience for the community. He highlighted the importance of golf in fostering human connections and creating lasting memories. This approach reflects Welling’s belief that golf courses can offer more than just a place to play the game.
Welling, who has previously worked on golf courses in Texas such as Fields Ranch in Frisco and Bluejack National near Houston, is excited about the potential of the Travis Club property. The signature fifth hole, with its dramatic view of Lake Travis, is expected to be a standout feature of the course. Welling explained that the design of the hole will focus on creating a sense of drama and challenge for golfers, in line with the principles of renowned designer Alister MacKenzie.
The Travis Club project includes 106 home sites, with half of them already sold. The remaining sites, ranging from half-acre to just under three acres, start at around $800,000. The development has been carefully designed to integrate with the natural beauty of the Lake Travis area, with over 50% of the property dedicated to golf, open space, or conservation areas. This approach reflects a commitment to preserving the environment while providing exceptional amenities for residents and members.
Leisha Ehlert, CEO of Travis Club, expressed excitement about introducing the new lake and golf community to the area. She emphasized the project’s focus on showcasing the unique beauty and recreational opportunities offered by Lake Travis. The development is designed to offer residents and members the opportunity to enjoy lakeside living while also having access to world-class golf and recreation facilities. Ehlert highlighted the stunning views and lush landscapes that have been integrated into the design of the community, creating a serene and luxurious environment.
As construction gets underway at the Travis Club, the project represents a new chapter in the evolution of golf communities in Texas. With a focus on creating memorable experiences and fostering human connections, the Travis Club aims to be more than just a golf course—it aims to be a place where people can come together, create memories, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Lake Travis area. With Beau Welling leading the design team, the Travis Club promises to be a destination that offers both exceptional golf and a unique sense of community.
