Team Detroit’s impressive win over Team New York in the GOLFZON Tour quarterfinals has secured them a spot in the semi-finals of the competition. The GOLFZON Tour is a simulator golf league with regional teams of five players each competing in a match-play format for a $150,000 grand prize. The league started with 12 teams, with Team Detroit emerging victorious in their match against Team New York to move on to the next round.

In the GOLFZON Tour, teams of three players compete head-to-head by linking their simulators together over the Internet. The competition is structured in a single-elimination bracket format, with two of the best three player scores for each team counting on each hole. Female competitors play 85 percent of the yardage of their male counterparts. If there is a tie after 18 holes, the match goes into a sudden-death playoff where all three players’ scores count.

Team New York and Team Detroit faced off in a thrilling quarterfinal match at Spyglass Hill, one of the toughest courses in the world. Team Detroit took an early lead but Team New York fought back to square the match. The teams traded wins on different holes until Team Detroit won six consecutive holes to secure a 6-and-4 victory on the 14th hole. The win solidified Team Detroit’s position as a top contender in the competition, with only five teams remaining in the running for the grand prize.

The 12 teams competing in the GOLFZON Tour are divided into East and West divisions, with Team Detroit, Team Orlando, Team Minneapolis, Team Los Angeles, and Team Tulsa advancing to the semi-finals. The competition can be followed on GOLFZON’s YouTube page, where episodes and match recaps are released weekly. Fans can track the progress of the match-play bracket to see which team ultimately qualifies for the finale in Orlando.

Jessica Marksbury, a golf.com editor and former member of Columbia’s female varsity golf team, provides coverage of the GOLFZON Tour matches and updates on the teams’ performance. Her expertise in the sport and passion for golf shine through in her detailed reporting on the competition. As Team Detroit and the remaining teams gear up for the semi-finals, the excitement and anticipation surrounding the outcome of the GOLFZON Tour continue to build.

The GOLFZON Tour has showcased the talent and skill of everyday players competing for a significant cash prize in a unique virtual golf setting. With teams from various regions participating in the league, the competition has brought together a diverse group of players aiming for victory. The format of the tournament, with its single-elimination structure and match-play rules, adds an element of suspense and unpredictability to the games.

As Team Detroit’s impressive performance in the quarterfinals demonstrates, the GOLFZON Tour is filled with surprises and memorable moments that keep fans engaged. The upcoming semi-final rounds promise to deliver more exciting golf action as the remaining teams battle it out for a shot at the grand prize. With the competition heating up and the stakes getting higher, the GOLFZON Tour continues to captivate audiences and highlight the talent and passion within the simulator golf community.
