St. George, Utah, is a golfer’s paradise with its spectacular rocky-and-rugged terrain and warm year-round climate. The region has been ranked as the fastest growing metro area in the United States and offers affordability, family-friendly vibes, and breathtaking red rock hikes in nearby Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park. The eye-popping rock formations and unique geography provide show-stopping views at every golf course in the area, making it a popular destination for golfers.

The new Black Desert Resort Golf Course in Ivins, Utah, designed by Tom Weiskopf, is a standout course that has everyone talking. The course features stunning visuals with multi-layered, sun-baked mountains framing lush-green turf, black lava, red rock, and a baby-blue sky. While the course presents challenges with blind shots and hidden hazards, it offers a riveting test from start to finish. Stand-out holes include the par-4 11th and the par-4 16th, both offering unique and exciting gameplay experiences.

Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane, Utah, features the Championship Course with a breathtaking back nine that parades along an aerie bluff rimmed with iron-red Navajo sandstone. The course offers a mix of desert-style golf and a picturesque landscape, making it a must-play for golf enthusiasts. The 9-hole Links Course at Sand Hollow is also a great option for those looking for a unique and challenging golf experience.

Copper Rock Golf Course, another popular course in St. George, opened in 2020 and has quickly become a favorite among golfers. The course offers a mix of flat terrain and arid benchlands, providing players with a diverse and engaging round of golf. The signature hole, the short-and-sweet par-3 17th, offers a unique challenge with its perched tee and green surrounded by sand and sagebrush.

The Ledges Golf Course, designed by Matt Dye, offers a tale of two nines with open links-like golf on the front nine and stunning red rock scenes on the back nine. The drivable 15th hole is a highlight, offering a gambler’s dream with its green snug against a black-lava wall and guarded by a creek. Coral Canyon Golf Course, located near downtown St. George, features bold shaping, bunkering, and challenging carries over desert washes, canyons, and arroyos.

Other notable courses in the area include Sky Mountain Golf Course, Sunbrook Golf Course, St. George Golf Club, SunRiver Golf Club, and Dixie Red Hills Golf Course, known for its scenic 9-holes. There are plenty of accommodation options in and around St. George, with the upcoming Black Desert Resort offering 800 hotel rooms and modern luxuries. Red Mountain Resort is another popular option, offering luxurious rooms and excellent dining.

Overall, the unique “golf on the rocks” theme in St. George is well worth experiencing for golfers looking for a memorable and challenging golf getaway. The region offers a more affordable and family-friendly alternative to the bustling city of Las Vegas, making it a popular choice for golf enthusiasts.
