Presidents Cup Saturday was an exciting day of golf as the Internationals battled back against the heavily favored Americans in what seemed like it was going to be another American rout. The energy of the event was elevated by young player Tom Kim, who has been a key player and emotional leader for the Internationals. The 22-year-old Kim, who made his Presidents Cup debut two years ago, showcased his passion for the game on Saturday as he rallied his team.

During the afternoon foursomes play, Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim found themselves 2 down against Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele through six holes. Tom Kim made a crucial 3-foot putt on the par-3 7th hole to save par and tie the hole, but he was visibly upset that he had to make the putt in the first place. His frustration was evident as he plucked his ball out of the hole and laid down his putter, signaling his disbelief that he had been forced to putt.

Despite his frustration, the putt energized the International duo, leading to Tom Kim making a 7-foot putt on the 8th hole to tie the Americans and a 30-foot birdie putt on the 9th hole to cut Cantlay and Schauffele’s lead to 1 up. Si Woo Kim also contributed by making a birdie from the fringe on the 10th hole to tie the match. The Internationals showed resilience and determination, refusing to back down against the American team.

The tense moment between Tom Kim and his American counterparts added an extra layer of drama to an already intense competition. Cantlay and Schauffele seemed unaware of Kim’s frustration as they walked away from the green, but the on-course reporter noted that caddie Joe LaCava was paying attention to Kim’s reaction. The incident serves as a reminder of the passion and intensity that players bring to the Presidents Cup, showcasing the competitive spirit of the event.
