Tom Kim had a disappointing finish to his season at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, missing out on a chance to qualify for the BMW Championship and the PGA Tour’s Signature Events. Despite starting strong and being in a good position, he struggled in the last few holes and ultimately fell out of the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings.

Kim’s struggles began on the 16th tee, where he missed a crucial opportunity to make up ground with a reachable par-5 ahead of him. A poor approach shot led to a bogey, setting the stage for more difficulties on the following holes. Despite hitting perfect drives on the 17th and 18th holes, Kim struggled with his iron play and short game, resulting in double bogeys on both holes.

Needing par on the final hole to stay within the top 50, Kim’s tee shot on the challenging 18th hole landed in the water, leading to another disappointing six. This marked Kim’s third consecutive bogey and ultimately pushed him out of the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings.

Reflecting on his season, Kim expressed disappointment at missing out on a chance to qualify for the Tour Championship. He highlighted the challenges he faced throughout the season, including a few bad rounds that cost him potential top finishes. Despite his struggles, Kim remains optimistic and looks forward to a productive off-season to improve his game.

This was not the first emotional ending to an event for Kim, as he also finished 8th at the Olympics with the potential to exempt himself from mandatory military service in South Korea. The disappointment of missing out on a medal added to the emotional toll of his challenging season.

As Kim looks back on his season and reflects on the missed opportunities, he remains determined to improve and bounce back stronger next season. Despite the setbacks, Kim’s talent and determination are evident, and he remains a promising young player with a bright future ahead in professional golf.

The lessons learned from this season will undoubtedly fuel Kim’s motivation to work harder and perform better in the upcoming seasons. With a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, Kim has the potential to overcome challenges and achieve success at the highest levels of the sport. Fans can expect to see him back on the course, ready to compete and showcase his skills in future tournaments.
