The PNC Championship is a unique golf tournament that features only 20 players who have won a Major, seniors Major, or The Players Championship, along with their family members as amateur partners. Formerly known as the Father-Son Challenge, the tournament has seen the likes of Tiger Woods playing with his son Charlie and John Daly with his son ‘Little John’. While the tournament has featured offspring, wives, and grandchildren in recent years, fans have been curious about what big-name family teams they would like to see teeing it up in the future.

One dream team that fans would love to see at the PNC Championship is Rory McIlroy and his father Gerry McIlroy. Gerry has been a constant presence in Rory’s career and has even played alongside his son at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Another potential duo that fans would be excited to see is Matt Fitzpatrick and his mother Sue Fitzpatrick. Sue, who is said to be quite handy with a golf club, would surely hold her own against the PGA Tour crowd.

Fans would also be thrilled to see Phil Mickelson and Phil Mickelson Snr teaming up at the PNC Championship. While LIV golfers are currently not allowed at the tournament, the prospect of the legendary golfer playing alongside his father would surely draw attention. Dustin Johnson, with his father-in-law Wayne Gretzky, would also be an interesting team to watch. Gretzky, known as “The Great One,” has shown his golfing abilities and would bring a unique dynamic to the tournament.

Another exciting duo that fans would love to see at the PNC Championship is Jon Rahm and his father Edorta Rahm. Edorta, who got into golf after watching the 1997 Ryder Cup, has become a skilled player, while Jon’s mother Angela also has a golfing background. Rahm’s parents have played a significant role in his golfing journey, making any team with either of them a must-watch for fans.

Overall, the PNC Championship offers golf fans a rare opportunity to see top players competing alongside their family members in a fun and unique format. While the tournament has featured some memorable family teams in the past, fans are always looking for new and exciting pairings to take part. With the potential for legendary golfers like Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson to team up with their family members, the PNC Championship promises to be a must-watch event for golf enthusiasts.
