Scottsdale, Arizona is a popular destination for golf enthusiasts, offering a variety of resorts and courses to choose from. One such resort is the Boulders Resort and Spa, located about 30 minutes north of town. The resort features two award-winning golf courses designed by Jay Morrish, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The resort itself is set amidst nature, with villa-style accommodations, a heated pool, and multiple dining options on-site.
The courses at Boulders showcase stunning desert landscapes, with saguaro cacti and massive boulders adding to the challenge. Both the North and South courses offer different shot-making opportunities and are well-maintained throughout the year. The resort also caters to both members and public players, allowing for a mix of golfing experiences. Green fees range from $100-$200 depending on the time of year and can be booked online or through the pro shop.
In addition to golf, Boulders Resort and Spa offers a range of activities including hiking trails, spa services, and dining options. The resort provides a serene and relaxed setting, ideal for couples looking for a peaceful getaway. While not specifically geared towards families with children, the resort does offer a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Overall, Boulders Resort and Spa is a top choice for those seeking a luxurious golf experience in Scottsdale.
Another notable destination in Scottsdale is the Troon North campus, home to two Tom Weiskopf-designed courses. The Pinnacle Course at Troon North offers a more links-style layout compared to the Monument Course, with scenic views and well-maintained fairways. The clubhouse at Troon North is first-class, with a spacious pro shop and locker room for public use. The courses are ranked among the top 10 in Arizona and provide a challenging yet enjoyable round of golf.
Troon North is located about 35 minutes north of the Phoenix airport, making it convenient for travelers. The courses feature bermuda grass fairways, bentgrass greens, and strategic bunkering throughout. The Pinnacle Course offers a mix of par 3s and 5s, with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. Overall, Troon North provides a memorable golf experience in a pristine desert setting.
For those looking for a more traditional resort experience, the JW Marriott Camelback Inn offers a luxurious stay with stunning mountain views. The resort is located near Old Town Scottsdale, providing easy access to shopping and dining options. The Camelback Golf Courses, Ambiente, and Padre, are a short shuttle ride away and offer a different golfing experience compared to other desert courses in the area.
The Ambiente course at Camelback stretches over 7,000 yards and features deep bunkering and challenging tee shots. The course design by Jason Straka provides a parkland setting with lush fairways and scenic views. While not as desert-like as other courses in Scottsdale, Ambiente offers a unique golfing experience with precise shot-making required. The resort itself provides a range of amenities including pools, dining options, and activities for all ages.
In addition to golf, Scottsdale offers a vibrant city center with shopping, dining, and entertainment options for visitors. Old Town Scottsdale is a popular destination for families, with attractions like Popstroke, Mavrix, and Isabella’s Kitchen. The dining scene in Scottsdale is diverse, with restaurants like The Montauk and Daily Dose offering a mix of cuisines and atmospheres. Overall, Scottsdale is an ideal destination for a family golf trip, with a mix of resort amenities, golf courses, and city attractions to enjoy.
