Top teacher guarantees an effective way to eliminate pulling putts

Are you struggling with pulling your putts and looking for a solution? Eric DeKarski, a golf teacher at Ballamor Golf Club in New Jersey, claims to have a guaranteed method to stop pulling putts. In a recent video posted on his Instagram, DeKarski shared three key components of his technique. Firstly, he recommends adjusting your ball position to be more in the middle and not too far forward. Secondly, he suggests adding a forward press with your hands. Finally, he emphasizes the importance of wrist movement and provides a drill to help you ensure there is no early release during your stroke. By following these steps, DeKarski believes you can eliminate the tendency to pull your putts.

As someone who tried DeKarski’s method, the author, a 14-handicap golfer, found it effective in preventing pulls. By following the recommended adjustments to ball position, adding a forward press, and practicing proper wrist movement, the author was able to achieve more consistent putting results without any pulls. While DeKarski’s technique may not be guaranteed for everyone, it is worth considering for those struggling with pulling putts.

Aside from DeKarski’s putting technique, becoming a great putter also requires good technique and structured practice. Kellie Stenzel, a GOLF Top 100 teacher, recommends a 5-step plan to improve putting skills. The first key to becoming a great putter is to have a good setup, where your posture allows your arms to hang in a way that your eye line is over the ball. Using a putting mirror can help develop the correct posture. The next step is to work on stroke path and practice stroke control, focusing on going straight back and through on an inclined plane.

Equipment also plays a crucial role in becoming a great putter, so make sure you have a putter that fits your stroke. Additionally, practicing distance control drills, such as the three-foot increment drill, can help improve your ability to control the length of your stroke and avoid three-putts. Adjusting to uphill and downhill changes is another critical aspect of putting, and practicing stroke size can help you develop the necessary skills to handle varying terrains on the course.

Putting is a learnable skill that requires commitment and practice to develop confidence and lower your putts per round. By following expert advice and tips from professionals like Eric DeKarski and Kellie Stenzel, you can improve your putting skills and ultimately enhance your overall golf game. For more short game and putting tips, consider exploring resources from other experts in the field, such as Parker McLachlin, the Short Game Chef. By implementing recommended techniques and drills, you can enhance your putting performance and achieve better scores on the course.
