Toptracer, the world’s top range technology and official range technology of The Home of Golf, has announced an exclusive competition at its partner ranges worldwide featuring the Old Course Reversed from April 2 – 30. In the 19th century, the original Old Course at St Andrews was played in a clockwise direction before Old Tom Morris switched it to its current counterclockwise routing. For almost a century, the Old Course was played in both directions until the counterclockwise layout became the preferred choice.
To celebrate this historic design change, Toptracer has recreated the course virtually and made it accessible to 1,250 Toptracer-powered range sites globally during April. Players can compete in a virtual golf game mode on The Old Course Reversed, with the player achieving the lowest gross score winning a tee time for two on the actual Old Course Reversed in 2026. To enter, golfers can visit any Toptracer Range to register and play The Old Course Reversed between April 2 and April 30.
Scott Blevins, General Manager at Toptracer, believes offering golfers worldwide access to this unique experience at one of golf’s most iconic destinations will attract new players and drive repeat visits to their facilities. In 2022, Toptracer partnered with St Andrews Links, installing Toptracer Range Technology at The St Andrews Links Golf Academy. This partnership allows golfers to play the Old Course virtually at the driving range, with over 700,000 rounds played at The Home of Golf on Toptracer Range sites worldwide in 2024.
James Ralley at St Andrews Links is excited for golfers worldwide to experience the Old Course Reversed in a virtual setting. This special activation allows dreamers of visiting the Home of Golf to access this historic routing from their local driving range bays.
