Dewar’s has long been known for its innovation and experimentation in the whisky industry, and their Stone Toasted 21-year-old whisky is no exception. This unique whisky is the result of a process that has never been used by a whisky brand before. Dewar’s Double-Double series, which began with double aging in 1881, has continued to push the boundaries of traditional whisky-making techniques.

In 2019, Dewar’s introduced double-double aging, a four-step process that involves maturing single malt and single grain whiskies for over two decades, vatting them separately, maturing them further, and finally combining them for one final maturation before finishing in a special cask. This innovative process produced a 32-year-old Scotch whisky that was awarded Best Whisky in the World at the International Whisky Competition in 2020.

The latest iteration of Dewar’s double-double series is the 21-year-old Stone Toasted Scotch whisky, which has been finished in magma-stone-toasted French oak casks. Dewar’s is the first whisky brand in the world to utilize stone toasting, a process more commonly used in the high-end wine industry. Stone toasting involves placing heated magma stones inside a metal cylinder in the casks to delicately toast the oak over several hours, resulting in a smooth and flavorful whisky.

The Stone Toasted 21-year-old whisky from Dewar’s combines notes of honey, caramel, stewed apples, pears, cinnamon, toasted oat, and cereal grain, creating a complex and balanced flavor profile. This unique finish sets Dewar’s apart from other whisky brands, showcasing their commitment to innovation and quality in every bottle.

Dewar’s deluxe bar cart is set to serve happy hour on wheels at this year’s U.S. Open, further solidifying the brand’s presence in the world of professional golf. Jessica Marksbury, a member of Columbia’s inaugural class of female varsity golfers and editor at Golf.com, highlights Dewar’s commitment to excellence in both golf and whisky with her coverage of the brand’s latest offerings.

Overall, Dewar’s Stone Toasted 21-year-old whisky is a testament to the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional whisky-making techniques. With their innovative double-double aging process and unique stone toasting finish, Dewar’s continues to set themselves apart as a leader in the whisky industry. This latest release is sure to delight whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike with its complex flavors and smooth finish.
