One of the most unique golf course openings of 2024 is the Crossroads at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. Designed by the innovative King-Collins Golf Course Design firm, the course offers a nine-hole layout that is both challenging and exciting. Tad King and Rob Collins, the architects and co-owners of the renowned Sweetens Cove in Tennessee, have once again showcased their talent with Crossroads.

The Crossroads course, situated on 54 acres of rolling dunes and an inland waterway, offers a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s in a reversible layout. Known as The Hammer and The Press, the course is designed for match play and cross-country golf, allowing players to pick their own holes. With a low-key vibe, the course features an Airstream trailer pro shop, a food truck, and a 34,000-square-foot putting green inspired by the Himalayas.

Opened in January 2024, Crossroads is the second course at Palmetto Bluff, following the Jack Nicklaus-designed May River course. Accessible by electric boat or kayak, the course offers a unique and enjoyable golfing experience. While primarily private, a limited number of tee times are available to guests of the upscale hotel at Montage Palmetto Bluff.

The minimalist design of Crossroads is a testament to King and Collins’ focus on creating courses that are both challenging and enjoyable for players of all skill levels. The course’s reversible layout adds an element of excitement and variety, making it a popular choice for those looking for a unique golfing experience.

With its scenic location and innovative design, Crossroads at Palmetto Bluff is quickly becoming a must-play destination for golf enthusiasts. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, the course offers a challenging and enjoyable experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

In conclusion, the Crossroads at Palmetto Bluff is a testament to the talent and creativity of King-Collins Golf Course Design. With its reversible layout, stunning scenery, and unique amenities, the course offers a one-of-a-kind golfing experience that is sure to impress players of all skill levels. Whether you’re a local resident or a guest at the hotel, be sure to book a tee time at Crossroads for a memorable round of golf.
