Wilson Golf recently introduced their new product, the RB Utility, followed by the Staff Model ZM wedges. The focus of the Staff Model ZM wedges is to maximize spin and retention of spin in wet and dry conditions, eliminating the need for golfers to adjust their game based on course conditions. By putting these wedges in your bag, Wilson believes that you can fine-tune your short game for optimal performance in any weather.
The Staff Model ZM wedges feature a new high-spin groove construction, face milling, and Garnet Face Blasted finish, all working together to enhance ball interaction, consistency, and control in various conditions. Constructed from soft forged 8620 carbon steel, these wedges have a straighter leading edge and elevated center of gravity to improve trajectory control in higher lofted wedges. Additionally, the progressive CG design in the loft options promotes a more consistent and controlled ball flight.
Available in six loft options, with additional custom order options, the Staff Model ZM wedges also offer various bounce options to suit individual preferences. Initial impressions from members who tested the wedges at Pinehurst were overwhelmingly positive, with many preferring the feel, control, and turf interaction of the Wilson wedges compared to their previous wedges from other brands.
The Staff Model ZM wedges received high praise for their performance and versatility around the greens. Many golfers found them to be solid, easy to manipulate, and capable of generating significant spin. Despite being fully forged wedges priced at only $150 each, they were compared favorably to more expensive options on the market. The consensus among testers was that these wedges offer premium performance at an affordable price.
Prior to the Pinehurst trip, Wilson had another group of forum members test the Staff Model ZM wedges, with positive reviews indicating that the wedges consistently impressed golfers across various skill levels. The custom, 1/1 raw Staff Model ZM wedges showcased by Wilson Golf’s Harry Nodwell generated envy among golfers for their unique design and performance capabilities.
In conclusion, the Staff Model ZM wedges are an exceptional offering from Wilson Golf, providing golfers with high-quality performance without the premium price tag. Members who tested these wedges had no reservations about putting them in their bag and praised their feel, control, and overall performance. Wilson Golf’s commitment to innovation and quality shines through in their latest product line, making the Staff Model ZM wedges a top choice for players looking to elevate their short game.
