The PGA Tour is ramping up for the 2024 John Deere Classic, which is taking place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. This event is considered the fifth major and serves as a precursor to the Scottish Open and The Open, the final men’s major championship of the year. The field for the John Deere Classic includes defending champion Sepp Straka, two-time winner Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Sungjae Im, Nick Dunlap, Denny McCarthy, and Keith Mitchell. Sungjae Im, currently ranked World No. 29, is the betting favorite at 16/1 after his strong performance at the Travelers Championship.

Spieth, one of the biggest names in the field, has been struggling with his game lately. His last top-20 finish came at the Valero Texas Open, just before the Masters. The golf course at TPC Deere Run is a par 71 with a total length of 7,289 yards. This course has a unique history since 2015, with players’ average finish positions and “Strokes Gained” per round in each category. The course is known to be the 18th least predictive annual course on the Tour.

In terms of betting odds, Sungjae Im leads the pack at +1600, followed closely by Sepp Straka and Jordan Spieth at +1800 each. Other players to watch out for include Denny McCarthy, Lucas Glover, Adam Svensson, and Jake Knapp. McCarthy has had success at TPC Deere Run in previous years and is coming off a string of top-40 finishes. Lucas Glover, a past winner of the tournament, excels in driving accuracy and Strokes Gained: Approach. Adam Svensson has a solid track record at the John Deere Classic, finishing in the top 25 in his last three starts.

Jake Knapp is coming off a mixed performance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where his putting let him down. However, he ranks 25th on Tour in birdie or better percentage, suggesting he could excel in a birdie-heavy event like the John Deere Classic. Joel Dahmen is another player to keep an eye on, as he has shown good form in recent starts. While he has missed his last two cuts at the John Deere Classic, he finished as the runner-up in 2018, indicating his potential to contend.

As the John Deere Classic approaches, golf fans are eagerly anticipating the action at TPC Deere Run. With a competitive field that includes top players like Sungjae Im, Sepp Straka, Jordan Spieth, and more, the tournament is set to deliver exciting moments on the course. As the players vie for victory and valuable FedEx Cup points, fans can expect to see some stellar performances and potentially unexpected outcomes in this prestigious event. Stay tuned for all the latest updates and results from the 2024 John Deere Classic as the tournament unfolds.
